Wing Yung Chan works at The Hut Group, one of the largest and fastest growing online retail companies in Europe. In 2014, The Hut Group came top of The Sunday Times Profit Track 100.

He started and led a Netflix-style contest for UK students at the end of 2013. In a previous life, he used to play Table Tennis for England and Great Britain.

Born and raised in south London, he now currently lives up north in Northwich, Cheshire near The Hut Group's headquarters, although he is often seen back in London at the offices of Balderton Capital and the House of Lords from time to time.

He writes occasional thought pieces on technology, previous work includes Software Engineering and the Prediction of Failure for the James Webb Prize, a history of writing (im)perfect code for Bluesci magazine, and an introduction to SOPA and PIPA for The Science in Society Review.
